Maria Tokamani Ph.D.
Maria Tokamani studied Mol. Biology and Genetics at Democritus University of Thrace. Her love for research has led her to pursue and obtain a PhD in molecular biology and cell signalling under the supervision of Prof. Raphael Sandaltzopoulos. Her PhD thesis was funded by the EU-funded project CancerTFs (THALIS). Also, for her doctoral studies she washonored with a scholarship from the Stade Scholarships Foundation. Her work focused on the identification of novel oncomiRs in NFκB / E2F interaction. Additionally, she holds a MSc in Research Methodology in Biomedicine, Biostatistics and Clinical Bioinformatics from the Dep. of Biomathematics, University of Thessaly. After completed her PhD thesis, she was recruited by Omic-Engine as a post-doctoral researcher to study the AMF community structure using HTS technology. In parallel, she is workingon other scientific projects, focusing on the molecular identification of several organisms to thespecies level and the construction of pharmaceuticals polypeptides using molecular tools. Furthermore, she has more than five years of work-experience providing support as technical assistant in undergraduate laboratory courses enriching her tutoring skills. So far,she has published 8 articles in international scientific journals. Her published work concerns cancer signalling and agrobiology.
