Assistant Professor Petros Kolovos
Assistant Professor of Systems Biology, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Democritus University of Thrace, Alexandroupolis, Greece
Petros Kolovos is an Assistant Professor of Systems Biology at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Democritus University of Thrace, Alexandroupolis, Greece. He has acquired a BSc in Biology from the Department of Biology of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and a MSc by Research in Reproductive Biology from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. He has accomplished his PhD studies at the Department of Cell Biology, Erasmus MC (Rotterdam, The Netherlands). He has performed his postdoctoral studies at the Department of Cell Biology, Erasmus MC (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and the BRIC Institute (Copenhagen, Denmark). His research interests are in the field of Systems Biology. Particularly, his lab is mainly studying the bimodal role and dynamics of transcription factors, epigenetics, as well as their combined role in transcriptional regulation and the spatiotemporal 3D chromatin organization, in complex processes of development/differentiation in various biological systems.
